CERTIFICATION

The national respiratory educator examinations are administered by CNRC - the Canadian Network for Respiratory Care and held annually, the first Saturday in June. There are a number of writing centers across the country. For more information on the examinations please refer to the CNRC website at www.cnrchome.net. The CNRC learning objectives are reviewed and updated regularly. It is the educator's responsibility to ensure that they are practicing according to current objectives.

Individuals who successfully complete the Education Module AND theAsthma Management Module (AsthmaTrec©) are eligible to write the national Certified Asthma Educator (CAE) examination. Individuals who work exclusively in pediatric asthma may wish to pursue the CAE designation only.
Individuals who successfully complete both the Asthma Management Module and COPD Management Module along with the Educator Module are eligible to write the Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) examination.
Individuals who are current CAEs and complete the COPD ManagementModule are eligible to write the "COPD-only" examination. If successful the Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) designation will apply.
